Ann Taylor is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from the west coast finding her way in Calgary, Alberta. Having found her voice during a year-long backpacking trip through Europe in 2013, Ann Taylor pairs her heart-wrenching lyrics of adventure and love with her unique voice and style of music. She released her first EP in February 2016 and has taken a bit of a hiatus from shows since then. Now back from another adventure abroad in India, Taylor is planning a single release for the middle of April and ready to start sharing some of her new material written over the past year!
What is your wish for 2017?
My wish for 2017 is to be able to sustain myself with music and collaborate with musicians across all genres in the Calgary music scene. I have a lot of hope for the scene in Calgary and want to meet as many fellow music lovers/musicians as I can.
Which musical instrument reflects your personality the most?
My Martin reflects my personality the most I think… quiet acoustic instrument that looks quite modest but can really draw you in with it’s resonating tunes!
If you could have coffee with anyone, who would it be?
I would really love to sit down with Patti Smith over a coffee. I feel like she paved some of the way for female musicians to gain the respect they needed in the male dominated music industry! She wasn’t afraid to push boundaries and she knew her music was something the world needed to hear, so she unapologetically shared it. I have so many questions for her about her tunes and her fearlessness!
If you were a food, what would you be and why?
If I was a food I would probably be pizza… Not sure why, I just really love pizza haha.
What is something you couldn’t go without?
I couldn’t go a day without my notebook! It holds my thoughts, songs, poems, secrets and does a great job at being my therapist!
