Brigida Battistessa is an active flautist, having performed with several ensembles in Calgary, and most recently with Pacific Flute Orchestra in California. She attended the National Flute Convention in summer 2016, in San Diego where she had the opportunity to work with one of the pre-eminent flautists in the world today; Goran Marcusson of Sweden. She has studied flute and wind conducting extensively with master conductors such as the late Frederick Fennell of the New York Eastman School of Music, and Frank Battisti of the New England Conservatory. She is a strong advocate for the importance of music education in schools. She has served as a member of the Alberta Band Association’s Board of Directors, The International Society for Music Education, and the Canadian Coalition for Music Education. She is the music director at St. Francis High School in Calgary, and is currently on sabbatical.
